ABOUT THE CONTRIBUTORS
PETER L. GRAY an environmental lawyer by training, is an acclaimed author whose passion for golf and golf course architecture inspires his work. Gray authored the book, Golfing the British Isles: The Weekend Warrior’s Companion (2023). Although Gray is a middle handicapper, he is a longtime veteran golf course rater for Golfweek magazine. He has rated hundreds of golf courses in the United States and overseas and has played most of the world’s top 100 courses. His perspective on the playability of golf courses is one that has been missing for readers—that great golf courses are those which challenge the scratch without brutalizing the high handicapper.
PATRICK KOENIG is a wildly enthusiastic golf course photographer and golf personality. Patrick has photographed over 90% of America’s greatest golf courses and over 25 countries across the globe. His photography has graced the pages of every major golf publication. He is the author of The United States of Golf (2025), and his photos have appeared in The Golf Courses of New England (2024). Not only is Koenig a world renowned golf course photographer, but he is also a World Record holder: in 2023 Koenig played 580 different 18-hole golf courses setting the world record for playing the most different 18-hole golf courses in one year. He lives in California. Visit his website at www.pjkoenig.com.
