Do you love the game of golf? Are you just taking it up and want to know more? The foundation of the greatest game ever created is based on a connection between nature and you. From the First Tee to the Last Green will help you understand how golf brings your swing, the course you play on, and the history of the game together. Every round that has been played is linked to where we are today and where we will head into the future. Come with me, Andrew Green, as I share the funny and rewarding moments that I have witnessed in a life of golf, course construction, and working as an architect. We’ll talk about strategy and design elements, some famous courses, and why they’re so beloved. I have also laid out some drawing exercises that will help you further understand how we got here to a game that is so diverse and challenging that you can play it endlessly. We have included pages that allow you to sketch and dream about what is next and it promises to make you love this game even more. Whether you’re just getting started with golf, or you’re curious enough to learn more about the game and its architecture, this book is for you.

The author's proceeds will be donated to The Gae H. Green Foundation.

—JIM NANTZ, CBS Sports, National Honorary Chairman of The First Tee

“Golf has been with me through every chapter of my life. It›s tested me, taught me patience, and given me memories I will cherish forever. This book positively shares what golf is about, which I appreciate even more as a parent. People of all ages are really going to enjoy this book.”
—JESSICA KORDA, Professional Golfer

“The game has given me more than I could have ever imagined, and one of its greatest rewards has been the opportunity to mentor others. If this book encourages even a handful of young readers to look more closely at the game, ask questions, and discover their own path in golf, then it will have made a lasting contribution.”
—PAUL R. LATSHAW, the only superintendent of all three  U.S. men›s majors, mentor to many turf professionals

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

ANDREW GREEN used to doodle golf holes in the margins of his notebooks during high school, dreaming big about designing courses. From there he forged a path, earning two degrees from Virginia Tech, in Turfgrass Management and Landscape Architecture. Working for McDonald & Sons for over a decade provided him with a background in construction and the confidence that he needed to start his company, A.H. Green Design. One of today’s most sought-after architects, his portfolio includes championship restorations from East Lake to Oak Hill to Inverness, with original designs at Firefly and Kawonu, and more to come. Andrew reads and references books frequently, but this is the first one he has written.

LEE CARR was raised in the Midwest and she has always enjoyed reading and writing. She graduated from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, where she played on the varsity soccer team before living in Europe for over a decade. Working in the editorial industry for more than 25 years, she enjoys contributing to great projects, as well as community charities. Above all else, Lee enjoys spending time with her family and friends – on a golf course, at home, or traveling somewhere new.

The Gae H. Green Foundation
Gae H. Green was a lady full of warmth, who found a way to nurture those that surrounded her at home, in her community, and professionally. She was an educator at every level, from pre-school through high school, and to remember her legacy, her sons Sam and Andrew created a foundation in her honor. She always found a way to connect with her students and foster their development and now, each year in Botetourt County, Virginia, students who aspire to pursue education or agriculture in college can earn scholarships in her honor. One hundred percent of the authors’ earnings from this book will support the Gae H. Green Foundation.
