BOOK DESCRIPTION
There’s a big difference between dreaming and doing. And once you do the damn thing, it doesn’t go exactly as dreamed.
Don’t have the time or flexibility to take a 365-day golf trip? Don’t worry, someone has done it for you, so you don’t have to.
In THE UNITED STATES OF GOLF, Koenig recounts his greatest experiences during his two golf tours across the country in a Recreational Golf Vehicle (RGV). He takes us through his early passion for golf, his struggles with and recovery from alcoholism, and how golf became a catalyst for personal growth. Koenig takes readers into some of the country’s most exclusive and most beautiful golf courses. You’ll meet many great people that he met along the way, and will play with a former PGA Tour pro, a few original golf influencers, two bestselling authors, and a few other famous figures. What emerges are lifelong relationships forged through the game, all while detailing his attempt to set a world record for the most courses played in a year and raising money for the First Tee.
There are many ups on the RGV tours, and a couple downs. Scattered among perfect days are the rounds he played in downpours, snowstorms, and even before an imminent tornado. And both RVs weren’t immune to break downs, air conditioning problems, a busted skylight, and plumbing disasters—at one point, even the RV’s door flew off. There’s also heartbreak: Patrick talks about how he lost a marriage on the first go-round, but finds his true love in the end.
So buckle up! It’s the law, and it’s truly a journey unlike any other.

ADVANCED PRAISE FOR The United States of Golf
"Sure, guys talk about quitting their jobs and zig-zagging across the country playing golf every single day. But nobody ever actually does it. And then Patrick Koenig does it, and writes a terrific book all about it. Patrick is a golf god."
—Rick Reilly, New York Times-bestselling sports writer
